Day 13: You can Gdansk if you want to

Day 13: You can Gdansk if you want to

I'm not sure if the post title is appropriate with all the history we encountered at our next destination, but I can only continue with pun names at this point. Gdansk was the very first site of WW2; the very first invasion; the first move by Hitler that initiated the Second World War as we know it. The city of Gdansk got taken from both the water and inland at the same time, but our visit started inland today. For starters, this is a STUNNING city. Everywhere you go, you feel the pride of the people; the history (and we're talking...

Day 12: Templehof Doom

Day 12: Templehof Doom

This was going to be a long day. We were hoping to get out at an early enough hour since we had a loooooong ride ahead of us, but we had run out of time the day before to check out the East Side Gallery and Tempelhof park, so we decided to add this to our itinerary before we left the city.  Check out took a little longer than anticipated since Justin had to run off and switch our rental cars. Turns out the rental company insurance for a Belgian car isn’t applicable in Poland so the company had us...

Day 11: Berlin-ough time

Day 11: Berlin-ough time

We did well in getting up in time and making our way to the starting point of the 10am walking tour. Justin and I have done some of the free walking tours in various cities and they’ve always been great, so after getting overwhelmed with all the places we need to hit within this city, we decided this would be the easiest and most interesting way to ensure we get the full experience. Our guide was AMAZING and today ended up being one of the best days we’ve ever had travelling. It was such a great balance of history, sightseeing,...

Day 10: Had a Berlin desire to visit

Day 10: Had a Berlin desire to visit

Yesterday ended with us grabbing some beers in the hotel lobby with our friends who just moved to Berlin. We eventually called it a night and still managed to wake up at a decent hour to get out and explore the city. Our hotel was awesome and was so central, so we decided having two days in the city would be great to divide it by doing one day in the West with all the memorials, and the other in the East. As soon as we walked and got to Checkpoint Charlie, we realized there are so many things to...

Day 9: A Personal Herstory

Day 9: A Personal Herstory

Today wasn’t overly adventurous since majority of the day was spent on the road driving from Plaidt to Berlin. We stopped once to change the Munchkin and grab some food but mostly just drove all day. We did make it into Berlin for 6pm and dropped off the other 2 Moozes at a botanical garden to kill some time while the 2.5 of us went to visit a relative of mine. I’m not going to go into the fine details, just share a few stories since we’ve had some interest for the historical aspect of this trip from readers. Long...
