We made it out bright an early as planned and drove over to Sintra. Insert the Clive Owen "wowwwwww" here. It’s everything all the blogs said: basically a real life fairy tale. Everything is SO luscious, and the entire town is castle-like houses.
We got a little overwhelmed deciding where to start so we wondered old down and ended up at the Quinta da Regaleira... definitely felt like we walked onto the live set of Beauty and the Beast. What probably should’ve been 2 hours (Sintra is considered a day trip.... with 4 main attractions), ended up 6 with all the photo ops.... so there went our day.
We stopped for food.
We even got creative in finding a place to feed Chubz which she appreciated very much.
The two other attractions we absolutely felt we had to do (a trip is never complete if we don’t find a castle) were at the top of a mountain. The tuk tuk drivers tried convincing us for a ride at 20€ each, but if we can just drive up, then that’s so much easier with baby and stuff. So we decided to come back first thing in the morning at opening hours for these guys:
We found an airBnB not far, checked in, and drove out to Cabo da Roca - the most western point of Europe for the sunset. It was so bloody cold, that after a mandatory “we were here” photo, Chubz and I hid out in the car for an hour playing while daddy went camera crazy with the lighthouse, the moon, and all that jazz with his long exposures.
As it was Sunday night in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, many things were closed but we found ourselves at a local bar watching football (very legion feel) and we got 2 of each: bifanas/beers/wine all for under 10€. Whatttttt. Now we’re talking! The locals loved her and were all over her. And with that, we called it a night.
