Day 5: Sintramelia
We made it out bright an early as planned and drove over to Sintra. Insert the Clive Owen "wowwwwww" here. It’s everything all the blogs said: basically a real life fairy tale. Everything is SO luscious, and the entire town is castle-like houses. We got a little overwhelmed deciding where to start so we wondered old down and ended up at the Quinta da Regaleira... definitely felt like we walked onto the live set of Beauty and the Beast. What probably should’ve been 2 hours (Sintra is considered a day trip.... with 4 main attractions), ended up 6 with all the...
Day 4: Venture to Belemelia
We had a plan to get up at 6am and do a day trip to Sintra but our car was blocked in by someone and we weren’t going to start knocking on doors at 6am. We did, however, end up seeing an enormous amount of Lisbon and pretty much covered all the parts we hadn’t seen yet. 20km of walking, but we've now seen all 7 districts. We started off by heading up to Alfama again for the flea market. The only thing we purchased were the roasted chestnuts. Yum. We wandered down to the coast and walked around taking...
Day 3: Lisboamelia
We planned on an early start to make up for the previously mostly-lost-although-much-needed rest day. So we all woke up around 11am.... oops. We slothed our way out, found some coffee and pastel de Natas and walked an hour to their “Central Park”. We then went off the beaten path and walked through the local neighbourhoods. We didn’t GPS, or anything, just turned whenever we saw cute streets and really immersed ourselves. I don't think I've ever seen a more graffitti-ed city before. We did eventually make our way to Alfama, the historical district. We were SO happy we never...
Day 2: Ameliarrival
The real trouble hit with the second flight. At this point, Chubz has had 2 tiny cat naps and was going on 10 hours of practically no sleep and went off hysterically, with a brand new founded banshee/mandrake screech, for an hour straight of the 2.5 hour connecting flight. The piercing kind that, even as her parents, neither of us could handle her for more than a few minutes at a time before having to hot potato her in fear of breaking, let alone everyone around us. So between cursing ourselves for doing this to her (please do not confuse...
Day 1: Fly-melia
We're off on our first adventure with Chubz. Packing was SO hard! We could easily have packed one bag, with washing machines at every airBnB (probably), we really didn’t need more than 5 outfits for her. Hell, Justin and I survived on 2 shirts the entire Mongol Rally and didn’t even wear the others we packed. But the problem with traveling with a baby is that you have all this CUTE clothes and they grow so damn fast, godforbid you miss out on any photo ops. Packing ordeals aside, the trip started off to a good start. We were on...
